Issotl2012

Conference Mentors/Mentees

As part of our plan to welcome newer ISSOTL conference attendees and to promote connections between delegates, we are offering registrants the option of participating in a ‘conference mentorship’ initiative. Individuals who indicate that they’d like to be a conference mentor, or to be paired with such a mentor, will be matched by conference organizers based on a description of their SOTL interests. Mentoring pairs will then be invited to meet and chat over breakfast on the first morning of the conference (Thursday, October 25). Nothing pre-specified is required of mentors/mentees beyond this initial breakfast meeting, though we do encourage participants to think about other means of extending and capitalizing on their connection over the duration of the conference (e.g. the mentor might introduce the mentee to other experienced ISSOTL colleagues and/or accompany him/her to sessions or events; the pair might meet up for coffee/dinner.)

Conference mentors should have attended at least 2 ISSOTL conferences in past. Anyone is eligible to be a conference mentee.

If you are interested in participating in this initiative, please indicate that you would like to be a mentor/mentee, and provide 4-6 keywords describing your areas of SOTL interest, on the registration form when you register for the conference.

If you have questions about the mentoring initiative, please contact Beth Marquis (beth.marquis@mcmaster.ca).
